Artist Statement
Hello,
Thanks for stopping by, and welcome. I hope you enjoy the stay. I have pared down my portfolio into a digestible group of pieces that reflects some of my interests and sensibilities. I am a commissioned artist for the most part. What that means is that I fill people's needs or wants as opposed to creating art and trying to sell it.
I work for businesses and people who want something that is a cut above what they can purchase. Usually, a client will tell me what they want an show me a space that will be occupied by the work. After a level of communication is established, I work with the client's budget to create what is best for them. If there is something here that you like, maybe we can work together to develop something for you.
My work is defined by genres more than a particular aesthetic, and I have tried to catalog it here that way for you. I enjoy creating functional art as well as fine art. As much as I love working on pure creative impulse, the majority of works that I am creating these days are pieces that are used every day to increase the quality of someone's life. I am currently producing home and business furnishings, as well as drums, and searching for high quality figure models for sensuous work.
I find creative work keeps my mind fresh. I use humor for cerebral release, and high intensity color for emotional release in my fine art. My functional art is usually very simple, and is defined by function first, and aesthetic second.
I enjoy developing ideas, and incorporate urban materials, current events, and client's needs, into my work. From time to time I do sets of pieces in a certain style, but more consistently do one of a kind pieces, as that is what time outside of work allows. The elements in my work are more a series of clues to spur the mind than a dictation of meaning. I learn about people from their reaction to the work. So look around, and feel free to let me know what you think. I hope you find the work stimulating.
